Mr. Elzner was born March 20, 1952 in Kaufman, Texas to Edwin and Mary Smid Elzner, and passed away March 11, 2017 in Longview, Texas.
Daniel was known throughout Texas and far beyond as a premier lead guitar player. He made hundreds of friends over the years due to his music. He toured throughout Europe and Canada with a country show band in the early 80's, and he played with countless people in every honkey tonk and club in East Texas. He was also known for his particular brand of humor. Daniel was truly, as he put it, "A Legend in His Spare Time." Most of all he was a man who loved his kids and his wife.
He is survived by his wife, Kathi Elzner; children, Layla Milligan and husband Greg, Geoff Elzner; JoDe Rickard and husband Bobby; Laurel Lozano and husband Christian; Salem Novak and husband Chris; grandchildren, Alora Lozano; Elijah Lozano; Sona Lozano; Mason Milligan; Kaileigh Rickard; Corbin Novak; Stark Novak; and a new Novak baby due on Daniel's birthday. He is also survived by his siblings, John Ed Elzner; Larry Elzner; and Linda Cruz; as well as many nieces and nephews.
